From the Rig Runner Chapter Gazette... |
|
Eight rigs (nine member units) from the Hi-Desert Rig Runners were among the ninety-five rigs which gathered under the blue desert skies at the Emerald Desert Golf and RV Resort in Palm Desert for the January meeting of the California State Club. Guests for the weekend were Steve and Fran Wersan of Ridgecrest. Al and Tryna Morton hosted a social late Thursday afternoon for all Chapter members. The social was continued Friday afternoon as we held our Chapter meeting. The sun was setting behind the western hills as we began the meeting. The temperature rapidly dropped and a slight breeze came up making for a really cool meeting.
Chapter members particpated in the nightly bingo games, men's and women's washer toss, bocce ball and bean bag baseball. Hilde Seiner was the winner in women's washer toss and Bill Seiner was on the second place bean bag baseball team. Hilde says it was her first time trying washer toss! Watch out if she gets some more practice. Congratulations to the Seiners! In between the various sporting events, meals and meetings, Chapter members were able to look at three new 2006 Winnebago motorhomes brought out for display by Altman's Winnebago. Throughout the activities which began on Thursday, Chapter members sold raffle tickets for a fifty dollar money hat to be awarded on Saturday. The lucky winner was our own Lorraine Brockway. (It was her idea to do the money hat raffle; she donated the decorated hat and coordinated the ticket sales. She didn't do the drawing of the winning ticket however.) Sunday morning saw the usual good-byes until the next outing.
Guests for the weekend were Steve and Fran Wersan from Ridgecrest. It was good to visit with former Chapter members Gene and Carol Bennett and Chuck and Billie Jo Hill during the weekend.
